Prompt Prices at a Premium to Winter

The focus this week has been on the prompt markets with system constraints and gas uncertainty the main cause. With Sizewell B reactor still out at the start of the week there was a shift in the shape of the Power curve as prompt prices, which had been at a £1.45MWh discount to Winter 10 last week, switched places to trade at a £0.20MWh premium. With the unit back on line by the end of the week, pressure eased and Winter 10 closed Friday down £0.5MWh at £44.80MWh. Winter 11 also close down marginally at £48.95MWh.
