The market seems warm and cosy (aka stable with low volatility) - but wait until the players return in September!

Whilst the prompt market tends to dominate as traders are away on holiday, there is a distinct feeling of comfort in the power market. The industry has accepted the 20% Centrica BE deal and the OFT has not objected. Gas prices coal prices and oil prices all remain extremely stable and the low volatility is perhaps giving some players a false sense of security with regard to the way in which commodities markets can move.
