Voluntary Emissions Reductions getting more press as apotential for tool for reducing carbon footprints.
IETA (The International Emissions Trading Association) has completed its Voluntary Carbon Standard. Which sets out the framework for qualifying for a VER (Voluntary Emissions Reductions).
Many players in order to win the PR war are looking at buying VER's but these previous to Defra and this annoucemnet were not very well audited and so some disreputable versions were being traded. IETA aware of this and not wishing a black market in emissions to develop have set out this framework.
Defra who were ahead of the game have also set out a similar framework, and those in the market for VERs should be looking at these framworks to ensure that they are buying what they want.

The Carbon Floor Price has relevance to the CRC, not least because some commentators have suggested that the fixed price levels could track the known Carbon Floor Price. Current EUA prices also seem vastly at odds to the proposed CRC price. British business is lobbying hard for a level and competitive playing field. read more...
