Markets listless not sure which direction to go, with the continentals showing a slight bearish move, and the UK a slight bullish move. Oil and Gas are up marginally, but power and emissions have ticked down a smidge.
German and French markets took a slight bearish tinge yesterday and perhaps the effect may rub off on the UK market. It is not helped by a slight rise in oil prices to trade above the pschological level of $70 a barrell, and also UK gas rose a smidge yesterday.
The overall impression from many players is that emissions has to fall it is just a matter of when. There are also many players who will be keen to support the market (buy) and so it is unlikely that this will be anything but a gradual slide, assuming no knew emissions data comes out.
The French ministry are now reviewing their position with regard to banking, and this itself would be a more bearish sign. Fundamentals are now showing a more bearish tinge with fewer bullish signals, and overiding feeling that market should not have risen.

02 June 2010
A name not used in a very long time, but suddenly the US are quick to refer to BP by its old name of British Petroleum, hoping perhaps to distance itself from blame regarding the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
