NAP Rash decision

11 March 2005

NAP decision proceeds but with legal proceedings in the offing.

The government has decided to proceed with the issuing of EU Ets allowances. This is due to the fact that the pending outcome of the increased allowance was causing all parties to lose out. However, they are issuing legal proceedings to gain an extra 19m tonnes of CO2e this will predominantly go to the generation sector which supposedly lost out due to the underestimate of new entrant reserve.

Current EUA prices also seem vastly at odds to the proposed CRC price. British business is lobbying hard for a level and competitive playing field.  read more...
