Gas power plant making fat margins in the prompt despite power price fall in the front end.

Gas prices moved up on oil prices, but emissions settled after last weeks initial scare. Power prices remained in a quandary with the prompt dripping down to £30/MWh. August and September traded flat something unlikely to happen in reality and August looks greatly overpriced at £33/MWh with gas prices at 33p/therm this is £10.50 spark spread and even with emissions this is a fat margin for gas power station. read more ...
