Prompt up- better to be long and wrong, than short and caught.
The prompt proved to be the main focus, with the pending cold snap, spurring on players to buy up positions. It is clear with a potential increase in demand, players were keen not be caught short. In these situations better to be long and wrong. Perhaps interestingly the next couple of days are almost bound to be triad periods, and some of the larger customers will be turning down in order to reduce, their capacity payments.

Prompt prices the key fundamental as to what will happen with the power market. If in the next three days there are no further outages and the weather subsides so air-condintioning is not causing problems then we should see the Winter 06 fall further. read more...
