Options deltas more easily tradeable in quiet Christmas market.
European power prices were forced upwards on demand increases. Whilst UK power took a dive in the prompt and all market activity has to be tempered by the usual Christmas lull, the suspicions are that the market whilst quiet at the moment will reignite quickly after the Christmas period. Perhaps interestingly there has been growth in the options market whilst the market is quiet. Most options trade with an underlying trade, the price of the option is very much determined by the underlying price, and if this is moving a great deal or the bid offer is wide it prevents the options trade from trading. As a result of the quiet period this has meant that the options players are able to trade the underlying, as well as the options.
