Summer and Winter fall

11 April 2005

Oil downer affects front year in Power and Gas.

Summer 05 baseload, dropped down in the constituent months by 1.25% to settle just below the £30/MWh level. With margin fears low and a possible warm end to April, Powerisk suspects that this has further to drop off. Winter 05 was pushed down a further £1 to end at £42/MWh after oil dropped off and gas followed. Opec had not indirectly talked up oil prices over the weekend but their hold on absolute price is weakening, and much the supposed oil increases in the last year have been freight driven.
