Buyers retreat in over spooked market

06 April 2005

Shark infested waters cause buyers to stay on the sidelines.

Winter 05 traded down to £43.10/MWh as buyers realised that without the controlled panic seen in the past few days the price would not be where it is today. There is no doubt that Winter 05 will continue to drop when oil and gas prices fall, and there is still five and half months to hedge any exposure. Traders will be careful not to get caught out paying the top of the market and seeing the market gap a £1 lower. Or put another way on a standard trading lot a loss of £43k!

We have reached peak oil .... again?

31 July 2009

Another article in the press this week suggests that we face peak oil imminently (we say another article because various academics have been reporting this fact periodically over the past few years). In any event, whether peak oil (the point at which growth in supply is less than the growth in demand) occurred this week, last month or last year, the point is we have, or are about to, reach a turning point and something ought to be done.  read more...
